24 Aug Do Good: Code Red
Here at QuickSpark, one of our core principles is to Serve and Do Good in our local community. We try to find opportunities in our locality to rally around, do something good and maybe have a little fun.
With temperatures reaching triple digits here in Phoenix, life on the streets can not only be unbearable but deadly. We saw a need to help the homeless men, women and children in our community to survive the blistering summer heat. With this extreme heat in the Valley, the Phoenix Rescue Mission issued a “Code Red” alert, asking for donations of bottled water in an effort to keep the less fortunate hydrated during the hot summer months (and really blistering heat).
Once “Code Red” was issued QuickSpark found it imperative to help the cause and conduct a water drive here at our office. We challenged all the QuickSpark team to bring in as many cases of water they could possibly carry into our office. At the end of the water drive QuickSpark, as a company, would match the amount brought in by employees! Initially our goal was to secure 150 cases of water for donation. Employees were challenged for 2 weeks – and they rose to the challenge bringing in endless amounts of water bottles. We even got creative and made a water bottle tower to add some fun decor to the office “park.”
At the end of the water drive, our teammates donated over 200 cases of water! After matching the amount QuickSpark was now going to deliver over 400 cases of water to the Phoenix Rescue Mission. They would then intern distribute to our Valley homeless.
Our great executive team all caravanned over in two red pick up trucks. The rest was picked up by the Phoenix Rescue Mission due to the large amount we were able to donate!
As the summer is coming to end, the polls are in and deaths caused by excessive heat has dropped since 2012 from 101 to only 26 in 2014. All in all, we had fun all while serving our community!
